Sofia was found in the 1st century AD. It happened after the city was the conquest by the Romans. During the Second World War Sofia became the center of the anti-fascist armed struggle of the Bulgarian people. In 1944 the first national-democratic government of the Fatherland Front was formed; in 1946 Bulgaria was proclaimed the People's republic.
