History

Sofia was found in the 1^st century AD. It happened after the city was the conquest by the Romans. In 1877-1878, was the Russian-Turkish war, as a result Bulgaria was liberated from Turkish yoke. In January 4, 1878 the Russian army came to Sofia. Two years later the Constituent People's Assembly in Veliko - Tarnovo declared it as the capital of Bulgaria. During the Second World War Sofia became the center of the anti-fascist armed struggle of the Bulgarian people. In 1944 the first national-democratic government of the Fatherland Front was formed; in 1946 Bulgaria was proclaimed the People's republic.
